Garza Pools builds pools made for East County summers — plus the shade and outdoor space that keep the backyard usable when it's pushing 100 degrees.
El Cajon means "the box" in Spanish, and anyone who's spent a July here knows why: the valley is ringed by hills that hold the heat in. Summers run long, dry, and hot, which makes a pool less of a luxury and more of how families get through August. Neighborhoods like Fletcher Hills, Granite Hills, and Bostonia — plus nearby Rancho San Diego and Crest — tend to have bigger lots than the coast, with room for a real backyard.
Bigger lots open the door to complete builds: a pool and spa, a covered patio or pergola, an outdoor kitchen, and landscaping, all planned together. The heat changes the priorities. Shade has to be part of the plan from day one, deck surfaces need to stay cool enough to walk on barefoot, and plants need to survive on as little water as possible. A pool that runs hard from May to October also needs efficient equipment, so the power bill doesn't erase the fun.
Two things we plan for specifically in El Cajon. First, hillside neighborhoods — Granite Hills gets its name for a reason — can hit hard rock during excavation, which affects cost and schedule. We look at the lot carefully before we quote, so you know what to expect. Second, many homes here date back to the 1950s through the '70s, and so do their pools; a lot of our work is bringing those older pools up to date.
